Although you like flowers and love observing them, you’ve never had to take care of any until now. The only experience with flowers you’ve had is with fake ones. And those don’t need attention. They stand there and look pretty forever. But real flowers eat and breathe through their roots and leaves, so if you’re not responsible and toss them aside, they will wither away and die. Very sad. So one of the first things you have to do is know where and how to store the

Check out these three tips that help you keep your flowers alive.

1. Replace Your Flowers’ Water

Would you let your goldfish swim in a pool if it’s filled with bacteria and urine? No?  Then you shouldn’t do the same for your flowers! After 2-3 days, you need to check if the water is murky or not. Bacteria can be built upon the stems and cause your flowers to wilt and droop.

So it’s best to remove the water and replace it with fresh water as soon as you notice that the water is cloudy. An excellent hack to preserve your flowers’ longevity and prevent the growth of bacteria is to use apple cider vinegar!

One way is to mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with two tablespoons of sugar in the vase water before adding to your flowers. Another way is to use vodka. Vodka is a known anti-bacterial agent that stops bacterial development. Add a few drops of vodka to the vase water along with a teaspoon of sugar and watch the magic happen!

2. Make Sure the Petals Are Hydrated

Having water in the vase is not enough to keep the petals upright and shiny. Sure, it’s enough for the flower’s survival, but what about its petals? They need some extra love too!

That’s why you need to spray them with water to prevent wilting. You don’t need to overdo it; misting a few times a day will keep the petals hydrated. A good trick is to have a bottle of water and whenever you pass by your flowers, just give them a quick spritz.

3. Put Them in the Fridge

Flowers, unlike succulents and cacti, don’t do well in hot climates. So if the weather’s too hot, especially in the summertime, you can store your flowers in the fridge. You don’t need to keep them for too long. Just store your flowers overnight for about 6 hours at 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Moreover, the vase needs to be at least three-quarters full of clean water. Also, make sure you remove any fruits and vegetables around it. The reason is that fruits emit the compound ethylene, which causes them to die quicker and earlier than their regular lifespan.

Additionally, it’s essential to soak your flowers with sunlight during the day and then put them in the fridge at night.

Finally, if you keep these tips in mind, the only thing left for you is to order your sweet flowers from Cedarhouse Flowers for fast and same-day delivery!
