Essentially, it refers to the process of applying petroleum jelly or something similar onto your face before you go to bed at night. This won’t be absorbed into your skin, but it will form a protective layer that locks in your moisturizer and keeps your skin hydrated.

While slugging can work all year round, it’s especially helpful for keeping your skin moisturized during the winter months, when it needs it the most. 

4. Drink water 

We should be drinking enough water every day, but there’s no denying that it’s easier to do this during the summertime when it’s hot and you’re thirsty. During winter, however, you’ll likely be more tempted to reach for a cup of hot cocoa than for a glass of water. 

Still, you need to hydrate your body. Skincare doesn’t just refer to what you apply to your skin, but it also refers to what you put into your body.
