What You Need to Know About PRP with Turkey Hair Transplants

There are hair transplantation clinics all over the world, including in Turkey. These clinics can help to treat you even if you do not yet need or want a hair transplant done. The PRP or platelet rich plasma treatment can be done instead of or along with a hair transplant procedure. This is a method that is available in many clinics and can be done to treat thinning hair and where there is minimal hair loss. PRP is a non-surgical treatment which is designed so as to help stimulate the hair to grow. This is also an excellent option for those patients who have recently had the FUE transplant.

Some experts may recommend you have the PRP treatment every three or four months. Some doctors also recommend PRP if you suffer side effects of other hair loss products such as minoxidil.

How PRP is done

Human blood is a rich source of nutrients as well as platelets, stem cells and growth factors. The idea is to extract blood plasma which has a lot of the platelets present.

Blood is drawn and then spun in a centrifuge. This is a special machine that spins very fast so that molecules of different size and weights can be easily separated from each other. In this way the platelets can be easily removed from the red blood cells that are also found in the plasma.

The remaining platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the scalp where it stimulates the stem cells around the hair follicles. Scientists have found compelling evidence that stem cells can and do help the regrowth of hair follicles.

The PRP works to stimulate inactive hair follicles and those that have just been grafted into place. Several growth factors are produced from the PRP including platelet growth factor and fibroblast growth factor among others.

These growth factors all help to repair damaged tissues and stimulate the growth of the skin and its tissues, including hair follicles.

Who can’t have PRP?

Most people are good candidates for the procedure. However, there are exceptions, for instance, people who have infections, problems with blood clots and blood disorders such as thrombocytopenia should not have the procedure done.

It is also not recommended if you are a heavy smoker and drinker or take drugs. You should also check with your doctor if you are taking prescription medications that could potentially interfere with the treatment.

Should you have a PRP with a Turkey hair transplant?

The decision is ultimately up to you as to if you want to do this procedure instead of or in addition to a hair transplant such as the FUE. There are clinics in Turkey, such as the Vera Clinic that offer PRP therapy instead of and in conjunction with a FUE hair transplant procedure. Click here for further information.

It is important, though, that you are in good health before getting the PRP procedure. This is to reduce the chance of complications and increase the odds of the procedure working well.
