Oriental Steamboat @ Segambut Review

Well, steamboat is one of my comfort food, especially on a rainy day evening. How about you? What is your comfort food? Recently I tried the newly opened Oriental Steamboat at Jalan Segambut with a few friends. It’s an open-air casual steamboat restaurant that is suitable for the family at a reasonable price.

Oriental Steamboat @ Segambut Review

Although this restaurant is new it was quite full even on a Monday evening and most of their patrons are families. I pretty like the unique concept of Oriental Steamboat, they operate from a lorry.

Meaning the location is fix but the kitchen is in the lorry and its mobile. In the day time, the restaurant location is for lorry placement and in the evening after 530pm it's converted to a restaurant. Though it’s open-air with roof concept however there are many fans around, it’s comfortable to dine-in.

1 person set at RM19.80

The steamboat set starts with RM19.80 per person loaded with quite a lot of ingredients such as seafood, vegetables, balls, egg and noodles. This bigger platter is for 2 people, it quite a big portion plus their prawns are of medium size and the balls are fresh too.

That evening we tried, pork bone broth, tomyam and spicy soup. Well, I like their soup base, the pork bone is the milky on the mild side and it's easy going for most. The tomyam is my favourite as it has a moderate kick of spicy and sourish. The spicy soup is more Szechuan mala style which is on a more spicy and oily side. So you can choose to have 1 type or 2 types of soup base.

My favourite Sea Urchin Flavoured Balls

We had a scrumptious steamboat dinner, their fish balls or seafood balls or meatballs are fresh and on a higher quality side. I love the Sea Urchin Flavoured Balls and their seafood and meat also fresh. We tried their scallops, fresh seabass, sliced abalone and baby abalone as well.
