Uniqlo: Individual Styles Shine at UNIQLOOKS Finale

These are the shortlisted 20 contestants, consisting of 10 males and 10 females, battled it out at the Grand Finale of UNIQLOOKS Malaysia. The top 20 selection process was judged by a number of factors which includes the participants’ ability to mix and match their clothing, strike a winning pose, confidence behind the camera and creativity.

“We were interested to see how Malaysians would express themselves in clothing when we launched this contest. With the rich cultural background that Malaysia has, there is little doubt that our fans would bring a fresh perspective in styling for UNIQLOOKS,” said Mr. Satoshi Onoguchi, Managing Director of UNIQLO (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and UNIQLO (Singapore) Pte.

“We want to empower people to display their distinctive looks, with UNIQLO clothing that is tailor-made to suit each customer’s individual preferences,” he added.

Mr. Onoguchi partnered with fashion experts and local celebrities such as Celebrity Stylist, Cheah Wei Chun; Top model, Tengku Azura; DJ Extraodinaire, DJ Goldfish; Celebrity Makeup Artiste, Geraldine Loy; UNIQLO Ambassador, Carmen Soo; and Actress, Lisa Surihani; to lend their expert advice in the shortlisting of the top 20 finalists.

Both the winners of the first ever UNIQLOOKS Malaysia at KLPAC, Fya Zainal, 26, 
Graphic Designer from Sabah and Saiful Hifzudeen, 25, Chemical Engineer from Seremban

Commenting on their wins, Fya said “I’m still in disbelief that we have won the contest! It was a very fun experience for us being able to experiment with our clothing, infusing our own sense of style and creating a look that is uniquely ours.” 

“I’ve always been a big fan of UNIQLO. Taking part in this contest really enabled me to not only enjoy being able to express myself through my own clothing, but also meet other like-minded fans who took part in this contest. That experience by itself is invaluable for me,” said Saiful.
