Review: Da Long Yi Hotpot @ Kota Damansara

As you know I love spicy food and mala hotpot is one of my favourite food, you can ajak me anytime, even supper I also onz! Last week, I was at Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 @ Kota Damansara with some friends for year-end gathering. It’s not any ordinary Mala Hotpot Restaurants in Malaysia, this is an Authentic Sichuan Style Hotpot from Chengdu with over 300 outlets worldwide and now starting their first outlet in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Review: Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 @ Kota Damansara

To be exact, Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 first outlet is at Kota Damansara, the 2nd outlet at Johor, and their 3rd outlet is coming soon at Bukit Bintang. Can you guess where? Anyway, you will know soon… and I wish to visit their new outlet soon.

Tadah! Here’s our menu, look a lot right but we finished it all! There are 8 of us so don’t think I can eat all these by myself right. The joy of eating hotpot, besides the authentic soup base, fresh ingredients, drinks, conducive environment, the fun part is companions.

Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 Menu & Price

Usually, we took more time to for hotpot while waiting for the food to cook, we slowly enjoy it, chat and sometime even sing karaoke. Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 @ Kota Damansara don’t have karaoke, but I heard that their upcoming outlet might have it.

Signature Mala Spicy, Tomato, and Mushroom Soup Base

We had 3 types of soup base which is their Signature Mala Spicy soup base is their famous and must-try; plus Tomato, and Mushroom soup base. You can request for extra spicy or flavoured soup base also.

Appetizers: Crispy pork, and black stinky tofu

Appetizers: Crispy pork, brown sugar glutinous rice cake, and black stinky tofu.

The Condiments & Sauces Bar

Drinks: Signature Scented Tea, Jia Duo Bao Herbal, and Tiandi Apple Vinegar.

Bamboo prawn paste, bamboo fish paste, duck blood, assorted vegetables

Hotpot Ingredients: We ordered many types of ingredients including their signatures such as bamboo prawn paste, bamboo fish paste, mala beef, beef stick, signature platter with beef triple, duck intestine, pork aorta, marbled beef slice, iberico pork slice, luncheon meat, handmade pork dumpling, pork brain, pork intestine, duck blood, duck tongue, crayfish, fresh prawn, pork balls, few types of mushrooms, varieties of vegetables, HK ring rolls, deep-fried bean curd, frozen tofu, and many more. Their ingredients and the soup base are mostly directly imported from China that makes it authentic.

Tsing Tao and Harbin Beer

Beers: Tsing Tao Beer and Harbin Beer. If you wish to soothe your throat and body with ice-cool beer, they have Tsing Tao and Harbin Beer. I personally like the smoothness of Harbin Beer which you don’t find it in that many restaurants in Malaysia. If you are there do try it.

Caramel soybean pudding and lemon ice jelly

Desserts: Caramel soybean pudding and lemon ice jelly.

Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 Review

Overall, I had a great dining experience as if I am back home in China, yah I used to work in China for many months when my company decided to set up a factory in Shenzhen many years ago.

Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 Signature Mala Soup Base is my favourite

Their Mala soup base at Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 is my favourite, I literally can drink the mala soup minus the chili oil. Yes, is it spicy but the spiciness level is just right, balance, and not overly numbing until I can’t taste anything. Their ingredients are fresh, plus there are lots of varieties to choose from, they have many Chinese delicacies like duck tongue, intestines, and others.

Da Long Yi Hotpot 大龙燚火锅 @ Kota Damansara Interior

I like the restaurant exterior and interior décor as if I’m transported to their restaurant in China. They occupy 2 floors, the ground floor are mainly the common dining areas and there are 2 VIP rooms available on the 1^st floor. The Small Room can occupy up to 6 to 8 people and the Big Room can occupy up to 10 people with minimum spending.
