Runners from 26 Countries Join Malaysia Sarong Music Run 2025

The Malaysia Sarong Music Run (MSMR) is back and set to take centre stage this 20 September 2025 in front of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. With a vibrant mix of music, movement and tradition, the event is expected to draw over 30,000 visitors including runners, tourists, spectators and culture lovers.

In a record-breaking twist, participants from 26 countries have signed up this year, firmly placing MSMR on the map as a cultural celebration with international appeal.

Organised by Malaysia Marathon Official Sdn Bhd and driven by JETOUR Malaysia as ‘Main Sponsor’ and ‘Official Car Partner’, MSMR 2025 is expected to gather over 15,000 runners and thousands more attending to enjoy live performances, cultural showcases and a variety of Malaysian traditional dishes - all in the spirit of celebrating Malaysia Day.

It’s a 5KM journey where runners don sarongs, sampling traditional Malaysian food along the route while enjoying performances of live traditional music that keep spirits high from start to finish. With runners from 26 countries and over 30,000 expected on the day, MSMR is more than an event - it’s a celebration that brings Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry to life,” he said.

This year’s MSMR offers three key events:

• EKI JETOUR X BSC Relay Run - a unique sarong relay held on 9 September 2025 

• 5KM Speed Run (5K Malaysia Speed) - open to Malaysian citizens only, this race highlights both recreational and elite homegrown talent. Takes place on 20 September 2025

• 5KM Fun Run - open to everyone, including international tourists. Also, on 20 September 2025

As the sun sets, the festival keeps the energy going with live performances from artists starting at 6:30pm, turning the day into a full-fledged cultural celebration where food, music and community spirit take centre stage.
