Ah!!! Here are my perfect comfort food on a gloomy day. Our hearty bowl of Xi’an La Mian specially prepared by guest Chef Wang Quan from Shangri-La Hotel, Xi’an. This is one of the special Chinese Culinay Collaboration between Shangri-La Hotel, Xi’an and Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur from 25 September to 3 October 2018.

Guest Chef Wang Quan from Shangri-La Hotel, Xi’an will be in Shang Palace showcasing an exclusive La Mian menu offering to the hotel guests and the public the opportunity to taste authentic local Shaanxi dishes.

A little bit about Chef Wang Quan, he started his career at Bell Tower Hotel, Xi’an in 1989 studying Shaanxi local dishes as well as Cantonese and Sichuan cuisines. He worked his way up the ranks and became a service leader for the Chinese Kitchen in 1998.

In the same year, Chef Wang moved on to work with Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel, Xi’an, specializing in local dishes and preparing Dim Sum for functions and events until 2007. A year later, Chef Wang continued his culinary journey at Shangri-La Hotel, Xi’an as a Guest Service Leader at Yi Café Kitchen and he has been contributing to the success of the restaurant since then.

There are total of 8 types of La Mian available at Shang Palace for a limited time until 3rd Oct, 2018. The other 4 types of La Mian such as:

Overall I love the La Mian (noodle) texture and the natural sweetness of the soup base. The taste is delicate and flavors are not over powering. My favourite is Spicy Biang Biang Noodles, the one with most chilli flakes and spiciest. 

Shang Palace opens for lunch between Monday to Saturday at 12 pm – 2.30 pm. Lunch on Sundays and during Public Holidays will start from 10.30 am – 2.30pm.
