Salam from the Heart

I have attended quite a few Raya Open house, to my neighbours, colleagues and friends house; plus also corporate Raya Open house. Well, when I meet my malay friends I always Salam. What is Salam? Salam or handshake is known as a greeting gesture, bidding farewell, showing respect and appreciation, and performed during the solemnisation of marriage, marking the blessed union within two souls. However, many of us take salam for granted nowadays, and think that it is just a touch between palms; while in fact, there’s so much more profound meaning embedded behind the act.

Salam, when performed during Hari Raya is sacred and divine; an act of purification for it is the time when all sins are forgiven, and all issues or grudges are resolved.

Sunway Pyramid encourages the act of respect, love and kinship via its S.O.S (Some Of uS) effort during this festive season for everybody to start Salam from the Heart.

Shoppers could also kirim salam by picking up free postcards available at all concierges and at the Mail Box, near the Main Concourse. Over 2,000 “Kirim Salam from the Heart” postcards were delivered free of charge within Malaysia.

The ‘Salam from the Heart’ campaign was part of Sunway Pyramid’s ‘Realms of Raya’, which was launched on July 23 2013. All of the invited guests, including Datuk Seri Razman M. Hashim, Deputy Chairman of Sunway Group; Datin Latiffah Kamaruddin; Mr HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Shopping Malls and Theme Parks; Phang Sau Lian, General Manager of Marketing, Sunway Shopping Malls; TV personalities Nazrudin Habibur Rahman and his wife Sheahnee Iman Lee; Jemaah Kariah from Masjid Al-Husna Bandar Sunway, underprivileged children from Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih; other guests and shoppers had performed ‘United Salam from the Heart’, engaging in a mass act of salam as a message of love to kick start the campaign.
