Taking A Look at Stock Market Themed Fashion and Apparel

Whoever said that working in the city center meant wearing boring old suits, ties, and stiff collared shirts was someone with no imagination or vision for the future, the work environment can be so much more.

We’ve seen those movies with the slick stock brokers walking down the sidewalk, hair gelled to withstand a typhoon, and swag in their step so confident that people step out the way as they approach. These are the people I want to know.

I have never been ‘brand name’ orientated, and even less so as I get older (and hopefully wiser) simply because we couldn’t afford it as I was growing up and I didn’t see the point of being the same as everyone else. I wanted to do my thing, wear what I wanted, and style it in a way that made me feel comfortable, is this not the purpose of clothing to begin with?

Style and personality go hand in hand when it comes to ‘creating a look,’ style (the definition of which can be read about here https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/style) is something that when done well can leave a lasting impression for years to come.

There has always been a quote by a top fashion house brand that resonates with me each time I go shopping, even after all these years and that is, ‘shop less, but well.’ And it makes sense. It’s also cheaper so that’s a perk, but you don’t need a lot to be happy.

The question begs to differ

Which brings me to my next point, why has there been a stigma for so long that you have to dress either in black, navy, or grey and carry a generic, black and boring briefcase if you want to be taken seriously? Is this not all behind us by now?

I embrace the new-age culture and modern business-minded people who allow not only their place of work to be an environment where creativity is encouraged but also their staff attire.

This doesn’t mean however that I want them to show up for a shift in a torn jeans with a tank top and tattooed covered arms, no thank you, but rather having a product range and collection of a uniform will let employees choose garments to suit their style while the office remains cohesive.

We all know that if we feel good in our clothes we will function better, thus increasing productivity, it’s a win-win.

So when I watch the news and they pan the rooms of the traders circle with loud shouts and yelps of joys and I see the traders and brokers with various shades of chinos and collared shirts it makes me smile. Yes, there is still the old-school generation folk in their pin-striped suits and cufflinks, but we can’t win them all.

If you have brokers and traders representing your firm and winning those sales and purchases, ensure they look and feel the part, it can only benefit you in the long run.

You will be one step closer to standing out from the crowd but in a good way.

You may feel like having everyone dress in the same colors and styles is generic and opt for the more extravagant side of the coin, and that’s fine too if it works within your service or products, but there can be quite a few upsides when it means we are all similar in some small way.

5 Benefits of a ‘uniform’

• Safety

This isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you let the staff pick their outfits, but it does give us peace of mind knowing that by providing them with top quality garments you reduce the risk of injuries from say ‘cheaper’ fabrics or sending the wrong message from sheer or short clothes, especially if they are a rep on the road.

• Time

Not having to decide every day for the next 10-years what to wear to work can be a blessing, a small stack of approved items is all you need to choose from and helps staff forget about trying to use the excuse of an outfit or wardrobe malfunction.

And we know staff like to get creative when it comes to reasons for absenteeism or lateness, see some great examples in this link for a quick laugh or shake of the head on your tea break.

• Team

This sounds like something you expect to find in the school playground, but trust me, even adults want to feel like they ‘belong.’ Creating and keeping the team morale up shows you care about them as well as making them feel like a ‘pack.’

 Contamination

I’d never considered this till I looked into it, but if you have a party animal of a staff member but he is still the top dog in the office with meeting deadlines and completing work, you can stop his bar drool and spills from coming to work with him by ensuring he has a uniform because we know he won’t be seen out in them.

• Awareness

An obvious reason but important nonetheless. With managers on the road meeting clients and ‘smoozhing’ important owners having a recognizable brand is vital to the success of closing deals. They know and remember who you are and likely to refer their friends to you in the future.

It can be tricky knowing where to draw the line when it comes to the overall design and the look you want representing your firm, but take your time, do your homework, and call in the professionals of the industry to lend a helping hand.

We are all here to love and care for one another is it not? Life is short, do it right the first time around.
