MIFFest is also happy to announce that the multi-award winnings Malaysian film star Bront Palarae will be on board this year to be the ambassador of the 5th MIFFest and MGGA. The 5th MIFFest and MGGA are glad to have Sunstrong Entertainment, a movie investment firm returning as the main sponsor for the second year.

The 5th MIFFest is pleased to collaborate with the 24th Udine Far East Film Festival (FEFF) for the festival partnership this year. Both parties aim to achieve the milestone of creating a bridge between the film industries in the East and the West.

"I hope that the filmmakers from both countries are able to have some cultural exchange and interactions through the collaboration with the 24th Udine Far East Film Festival. It could also bring co-production opportunities for the filmmakers in Malaysia." said Joanne Goh, the chairperson and founder of the MIFFest.

MIFFest and MGGA aim to create a platform for international filmmakers to interact with each other and for the Malaysian film industry to reach out to a wider international platform. Joanne will be heading to Italy in April to attend the 24th FEFF and to conduct the film festival promotional activities, as well as presenting Malaysian films to the audience in Udine.

Apart from participating in the festival, Joanne Goh has an important role to play in Udine. She will be bringing several of Malaysia's best films to the region and hopes that in her own power, she will be able to bring Malaysian films to the attention of more international filmmakers, "It's time for the international film industry to watch Malaysian films."

Besides, the festival director of FEFF, Sabrina Baracetti will be also invited to Malaysia and attend the 5th MIFFest in July, with the mission of strengthening the connection from the West to the East. During the festival, a talk about the journey of festival submission from Southeast Asian territories to Europe will be given by Sabrina to the young filmmakers in Malaysia.

“2022 will become a milestone for Udine Far East Film Festival as we set the foundation to strengthen our ties with the Southeast Asian film industries, and in particular, with Malaysia with the help of MIFFest.” said Sabrina Baracetti, president of FEFF, “Through the partnership, we look forward to providing richer programming to the West in April, and to grow and strengthen it even more in the coming years.”

MIFFest and MGGA are organized by Jazzy Group. Main Sponsor: Sunstrong Entertainment. Supported by: FINAS Malaysia.
