Dumpling Kings x Phuture Daging: Malaysia First Plant-Based Dumpling Outlet

Hey! Do you like some plant-based meat dumplings? I tried both steamed & pan-fried mushroom cabbage, spicy mala, kimchi, and chives plant-based meat dumplings at Le Food, Subang Jaya. Specialized plant-based dumpling franchise Dumpling Kings and plant-based meats foodtech company Phuture Daging is collaborating to launch Malaysia’s first plant-based meat dumpling outlet.

Nowadays, health-conscious consumers prefer plant-based meat especially since the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the food logistics network, raising health and food safety concerns. However, the current plant-based dining outlets in Malaysia are limited, and less accessible.

This new collaboration between Dumpling Kings and Phuture Daging will see the opening of Malaysia’s first Dumpling Kings outlet offering a fully-halal, plant-based meat menu in the 4th quarter of 2020. Not only they are more affordable, but more socially and environmentally conscious.

Leveraging Phuture Daging’s customized plant-based meat solutions and halal-certified manufacturing process, Dumpling Kings aims to make the humble dumpling a comfort food that can be shared among Malaysians, regardless of dietary or religious restrictions and boost Vegan Meat Malaysia awareness. 

Menu Of The Day

Mushroom Cabbage, Chives, Spicy Mala, and Kimchi plant-based meat dumpling were served in steamed and pan-fried. The dumpling dough is handmade fresh by authentic dumpling chefs. Among these 4 types of dumplings, I personally like the mushroom cabbage and spicy mala.

Chives Plant-Based Meat Dumpling (Pan-Fried) with Japanese Pearl Rice

The pan-grilled dumplings are juicy on the inside while staying crispy and golden brown on the outside due to the delicate balance between pan-frying and steaming. Dumplings are first pan-grilled on high heat until crispy brown on the bottom. Then a splash of water is added, and the pan is covered quickly to steam the dumplings. This results in a mix of textures, with dumplings being crispy at the bottom and soft at the top while the insides remain juicy.

The dumplings are served steaming-hot with Dumpling Kings’ signature ginger soy sauce, vinegar, and a splash of chili oil. These plant-based meat dumplings taste like the meat dumplings, be it the texture and the flavors. 

Overall, these plant-based meat and halal dumplings are perfect for all races, as well as health-conscious foodies without compromising its taste and freshness.

Dumpling Kings co-founders Lyn Teh and Shawn Pan plan to advance the collaboration with Phuture Daging through a franchising model that provides entrepreneurship opportunity for an aspiring young entrepreneur in Malaysia plans to take the collaboration with Phuture Daging further in 2021, opening up the Dumpling Kings brand to young entrepreneurs who need a leg-up into the Vegan Meat Malaysia food sector.

Also present at the signing and food tasting was Phuture Daging general manager Datin Maziah Binti Omar, who noted that this partnership marks Phuture Daging’s introduction of its halal plant-ba­sed solutions to the Malaysian market.

Phuture Daging’s plant-based meats are processed in compliance with halal standards, which are overseen by Phuture Daging’s Halal Advisory Board led by Pn. Norlia Binti YusofPhuture Daging products use non-GMO soy, is cholesterol-free with low calories and high protein content. With no added hormones or antibiotics, it is Muslim, Buddist, vegan, and vegetarian-friendly in addition to being cruelty-free.

“Our partnership today offers new freshly-made dumpling offerings to Muslim consumers as well as health-conscious foodies. After all, halal is not just about religious obligations, but also encompasses high food standards, i.e quality, safety, and health. All our ingredients are halal, sourced from local farms and processed in compliance with halal practices,” she said.

Dumpling Kings will launch its first outlet in Klang Valley in the fourth quarter of 2020, and open its model to business partners for expansion in 2021.   5. Sedapnya dumpling memang my favourite hee. Rasa curious nak try sebab dumpling ni dari plant based kan tapi rasanya sama macam daging sebenar? Wow sangat. Paling penting halal dan sesuai untuk vegetarian juga
