Last Saturday, June 6, I got to experience the historic Southeast Asian debut of the Suria KLCC x LEGO® “Play Run 2026”—and honestly? It was the most fun, screen-free weekend I’ve had in a long time. Here is what went down at Malaysia's biggest brick takeover!

The 2km Experiential Play Run
I joined thousands of other families, fitness enthusiasts, and inner-child-channeling adults at the starting line in KLCC Park. This wasn't your typical, grueling marathon. It was a custom-designed, high-octane 2km experiential route packed with "play-stops" and physical obstacles.
Instead of staring at a digital screen, we were navigating challenges designed to get us collaborating and using our brains. The energy was absolutely electric.
Fun Fact: The run was actually the grand finale of a multi-week LEGO® MY Play Festival that took over the entire KLCC precinct from May 21 to June 7.
More Than Just Fitness: The "Safe Space"
One of my absolute favorite parts of the event was how much heart it had. Suria KLCC brought back its signature "Safe Space" mental health sanctuary right next to the outdoor active zones.
Partnering with incredible organizations like MIASA, MMHA, NYAWA, and The Befrienders KL, they hosted educational workshops and therapeutic activities. It was a beautiful reminder that taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies.
Inside the Festival: 51,000 Bricks and 3D Passars
After cooling down from the run, I headed inside to the Suria KLCC Centre Court, which had been transformed into a massive local town concept. The detail was insane!
The Highlights: There was a mind-boggling replica of the PETRONAS Twin Towers built with over 51,000 LEGO® bricks. The Culture: They even recreated local Malaysian pasar malam (night market) food culture out of 3D builds.
The Tech: I also got to try the digital LEGO® Minifigure Converter station to see what I'd look like as a LEGO character.
Outdoors at the Esplanade, they also had a LEGO® Football Play Arena (perfectly timed with the FIFA World Cup 2026™ hype) featuring an 8-foot inflatable football and human foosball stations.
A Spectacular 3D Grand Finale
To wrap up an incredible day, I stuck around the Esplanade after dark. Between 8:00pm and 10:00pm, the exterior facade of Suria KLCC came alive with a breathtaking LEGO® 3D Projection Mapping showcase.
Watching larger-than-life LEGO® brick-building animations light up the iconic building, celebrating both global play culture and Malaysian heritage, was the perfect end to a nostalgic weekend.
A huge shoutout to Suria KLCC, The LEGO® Group, and all the healthcare partners (like IHH Healthcare) who kept everyone safe and hydrated. It truly felt like a weekend focused on real-world connection and holistic wellness.
