5 Tips To Healthy Hair

We all wish and pray for good health and take good care of many parts of our bodies. However, most times we tend to ignore the hair. The following are a few tips that can guide you on how to have healthy hair.

1.    Protect your hair

Just like the skin, the hair is an important factor of our bodies that requires protection from various weather elements such as heat and wind. The heat can dry out the hair creating a lacklustre appearance which causes your hair to appear unhealthy.

These weather elements can also cause build up of dirt in the hair which can irritate your scalp. Protect your hair by covering it up with a hat or a scarf which will help retain the hair’s moisture and shine.  While swimming, wear a swimming cap which will help protect your hair against the harmful effects of chlorine.

2.    Handle wet hair carefully

Wet hair is a lot weaker than dry hair. When hair is wet it is more vulnerable and more likely to break. Therefore, after taking a shower try not comb your hair in order to avoid breakage.

Afterwards, make sure not to wrap your hair in a heavy towel which adds a significant amount of weight to it and can also lead to hair breakage. If you can, actually, use an old t-shirt to dry your hair. The t-shirt will be gentler to your roots and to the cuticles of your hair.

3.    Maintain a healthy diet

Our daily diet has a significant input to our overall health. That includes the state of the skin, hair, nails and all the other parts of our bodies. Maintaining a healthy diet will go a long way in helping an individual acquire healthy hair.

Ensure that your diet is rich in protein, like, for instance, from eggs, which will promote healthy hair growth. Eat a lot of leafy greens which contain iron that helps the hair strands to be strong. Moreover, include vitamin C in your diet which aids in the absorption of iron in the body.

4.    Invest in hair serum

Hair serum is a liquid or oil product that helps in preventing the dry and fizzy appearance of hair. Hair serum helps create a beautiful, healthy shine to hair and also serves as a coat of protection against harsh weather conditions such as excessive sunlight or dry wind.

Moreover, hair serum helps against the tangling of hair. It is advisable to apply the serum just after washing hair or when your hair is slightly damp.

5.    Do not tie your hair too tightly

Holding up your hair too tightly causes a lot of friction to your hair, which leads to breakage. If you must hold your hair up, hold it up in a loose ponytail which will not add stress or undue pressure to your hairline.

Alternate hairstyles often in order to avoid holding your hair up in a ponytail for too long. Try as much as possible to let it loose while sleeping and oil your hair often in order to prevent excess friction and breakage.
