When I travel and if there is one thing that consistently frustrates me, it’s the lack of accessible power outlets in the hotels. I usually find myself choosing between unplugging a bedside lamp just to charge my phone or crawling under a desk to find a spare socket. Recently, I started carrying the ORICO AP3 Pocket Travel Power Strip to see if it would actually make a difference in my daily routine, and it has honestly simplified my setup without adding any unnecessary bulk to my bag.

The first thing I noticed was how well-designed the cord management is. The 1.2m cable wraps around the device itself and tucks away neatly. I’ve dealt with so many power strips where the thick, stiff cable just takes up half my suitcase or ends up in a tangled mess with my camera gear, so having something that stays compact is a huge plus. It’s lightweight enough that I don't really notice the extra weight in my backpack when I’m moving between locations.

When I’m setting up to work or just getting ready for bed, the flat plug is probably my favorite feature. It’s incredibly thin, which means I can actually use those outlets hidden behind heavy headboards or hotel desks that are usually impossible to reach with a standard bulky charger. Since the plug is angled at 45 degrees, it doesn't block the second wall socket either, which is a small but thoughtful touch. 

In terms of ports, having four AC outlets and three USB ports (including a USB-C) has been more than enough for my needs. I can have my laptop, camera battery charger, and phone all going at once without searching for multiple adapters.

I should mention that the USB charging isn't super fast—the total output is 15.5W—so I don’t rely on it when I’m in a rush to juice up my phone before heading out. I usually just plug my phone in overnight or use the main AC outlet with my fast-charging brick if I need a quick boost. For a slow, steady overnight charge for my power bank or headphones, though, the built-in USB ports work just fine and save me from carrying extra plugs.

One detail that I think is really practical for frequent travelers is that it doesn’t have surge protection. While that sounds counterintuitive, it’s actually essential if you’re someone who enjoys cruise holidays, as surge protectors are often confiscated at boarding for safety reasons. 

Knowing I can take this on a ship or an international flight without any issues gives me a bit more peace of mind. It feels like a reliable, no-nonsense tool that just does its job. It isn't trying to be the flashiest gadget in my kit, but it has definitely made my travel days feel a lot less cluttered and more organized.
