I recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the unveiling of The Transformative Power of Art by Feruni at the company’s headquarters. It was immersive event that completely reshaped my perspective on the intersection of art, design, and personal expression. Feruni, a leading brand in Malaysia’s tile industry collaborates with local artists to present a series of collections celebrating art and innovation.

The launch followed Feruni’s brand refresh last year with the theme “Discover New Art Forms”, a bold move that reinforced Feruni’s mission to become the world’s most disruptive tile maker. More than tiles, the rebranding exercise underscored Feruni’s commitment to transforming spaces, inspiring customers, bringing joy to our people, enriching our communities, and infusing art, beauty and inspiration into everything we do.

This year’s launch showcased creative collaborations with local artists and introduced a bold new design direction through a series of captivating tile collections, all guided by Feruni’s belief that art goes beyond aesthetics. It is a powerful force for connection, expression and transformation, meant not just to be seen but to be felt, experienced and lived.
“As a brand rooted in transformation, we see tremendous meaning in collaborating with local artists,” said award-winning entrepreneur with a pioneering mindset, Feruni’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ C.C. Ngei.

“These partnerships go beyond design as they shape culture, impact society and influence how we shape the spaces we live and work in while transforming everyday environments into meaningful experiences.”
The new collections embody the ethos of Feruni’s "The Art and The Artist" platform, a philosophy that celebrates the fusion of creativity and craftsmanship. Each piece not only highlights innovative design and artistic expression but also showcases the unique perspectives of the artists behind them, turning every tile into a meaningful work of art.
One of the featured collaborations is with Farah Mohan, founder of Novak Batik that blends the timeless beauty of Malaysian textile heritage with the modern canvas of ceramic tile.
Her tile collection, Tutur Alam, translating to “Nature’s Speech”, reimagines the soul of traditional batik with a modern voice. Inspired by the nostalgic Malay folk song “Bangau Oh Bangau”, the collection centres on a narrative artwork supported by three modular designs.
Created in close collaboration with Studio Feruni, these pieces echo the rhythm of the song through abstract forms that reflect nature, memory and emotion. “Art transforms but tradition grounds, and I believe batik carries them both,” Farah shared. “Feruni made it possible that batik doesn’t have to stay on fabric. It can live on walls, floors and in spaces we walk through every day.”
Another collaboration features the renowned creative studio Loka Made, titled Mosaic of Harmony. This mural-style collection captures the essence of Malaysia through whimsical, detailed illustrations that reflect an idealised vision of our multicultural spirit, everyday moments and shared identity.

Brought to life by Studio Feruni, the mural measuring 2.4m x 6m is crafted using intricate hand-carving techniques that add depth, texture and dimension to the mural. This larger-than-life artwork was officially recognised as the nation’s Biggest Tile Carving Mural by the Malaysia Book of Records during the launch.

“We’ve long admired Feruni’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and their exploration in art and ceramics,” said the team at Loka Made. “Their support allowed us to present our illustrations on a larger scale, bringing them to life in an entirely new and impactful way.”
Alongside these artist collaborations, the launch also spotlights new collections from Studio Feruni. A key highlight is the debut of the Feruni Maxima Porcelain Slabs, crafted with advanced design and technology. Designed to the theme of “Scale of Perfection”, it celebrates the journey of grand, dramatic slabs (1600mm × 3200mm) transformed into versatile, refined tiles (600mm × 600mm).
As part of its growth strategy, Feruni continues to expand through cross-industry collaborations with local artists and designers. It will enter new markets in phases beginning with Southeast Asia, then Asia and eventually on a global scale. Feruni also plans to revamp its retail experience with the new Feruni Retail Store 2.0 concept, starting at its headquarters before expanding nationwide.
