Review: Samsung GALAXY S III ~ Sensational Design, Superior Features and Seamless Performance

Immediately after the launched of Samsung GALAXY S III on 25^th May, on the same day I get a unit of S III… Well, I really hope it is mine but I only get to use it for a week for review.

Currently, I am using Samsung GALAXY S II but the S III has proven and convinced me that it is so much better and there are lots of improvements from its predecessor and also other smartphone in the market.

Now we have all the three GALAXY S generation here. My brother has a S I, the S II is my current phone and this latest S III ~ woohooo! 

Design for Human, Inspired by Nature   [ Sensational Design ]

The S III is slightly bigger that S II and smaller than GALAXY Note. It is just the right size for comfortable grip on palm with its curve edge and feels good to hold with its smooth finish. S III comes in super sleek and slim design; weighing at only 133 grams and measuring at only 8.55mm thick.

S III has 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD screen in a body with 136.6mm x 70.6mm x 8.6mm dimensions. Available in Pebble Blue and Marble White, I prefer Marble White. which proved itself resistant to scuffs, and the metallic ring around the phone’s edge offers extra protection against any knocks.

Some may not like the plastic body/casing or feel its low quality. Actually the body/casing material is Polycarbonate, it was chosen as the best material to represent the minimal organic design of S III. This material makes the phone lighter and I prefer it light that the heavy metal casing. 

Battery Life

S III battery life has upgraded to 2100 mAh compared to S II just 1650 mAh. For me the fully charged S III battery can last more than a day, without streaming video. Considering all features, speed and bright HD display I say it done a good job and getting better.

Camera Quality   [ Superior Features ]

Ok, this is the best of S III. The camera is SUPERB & SEDUCTIVE feature, thumbs up. S III 8mp camera has zero-lag shutter speed that can capture moving objects easily without delay. S III delivers photos with more details my S II. I have tried the ‘Burst Shot’ function that captures twenty continuous shots, amaze with the quality and sharpness. I like the ‘Best Photo’ feature it will automatic select the best shot among the 8 shots taken. With this I don’t have to waste time going through and selecting the best picture. Tap the display if you want to override auto-focus – and take control of exposure, ISO, white balance and so on.

I can take HD self videos or pictures with 1.9mp front. A better and improved Backside Illumination Sensor (BIS) on S III allows me takes clear shots in low light conditions.

Screen

S III 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED HD display, very impressed when I watch HD video. Beautiful sharp, vibrant and crisp colours.

 

S-Voice

This is Samsung latest innovation features on its smartphone. It is like iPhone Siri. This feature is kind of cool, I can check the search information, weather, location, send text messages and emails, play songs, turn the volume up or down, organize your schedules and many things that S-Voice can do including talking to me when I bored driving alone.

I find that the S-Voice feature has rooms for further improvement. It only recognize 8 languages, does not include Mandarin. Hopefully S III can cater for more languages and bigger market. Sometimes it does not recognize my voice or maybe my English is not sharp and clear so S-Voice don’t understand what I am trying to say. I speak Manglish kekeke. S-Voice response time is slower than Siri.

 

Performance   [ Seamless Performance ]

S III response of apps launch and connectivity is faster with 1.4 ghz quad core processor. The apps operate more smoothly do not have to force close the apps certain time. The touch screen is very sensitive, I just lightly swipe and texting is easier with S III due to larger screen than S II and faster response also. S III is powered by Android™ 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

With the ‘Pop Up Play’ feature I can play a video anywhere even while simultaneously checking emails or SMS, so no need to close and restarting of videos. The ‘S Beam’ allows any large files including movie files to be transferred by simply touching another Samsung GALAXY S III phone, even without a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. I have not have chance to try out this feature yet.

Overall 

S III is not only Powerful, it is user Friendly and delivers Superb quality. The smartphone features are intelligent and speedy, caters to all my needs. Besides, I love the soothing and smooth wind, water and light elements in the sound, display and design. This is going to be the handphone of the year 2012. Just one week using S III, I impressed and tempted… and I look cool, in-trend and sensation holding a S III on my palm... now I am thinking should I upgrade hmmm….
