Organised by LOCCO, Keretapi Sarong 2026 (KS26) marks a decade of transforming public spaces and public transportation into vibrant platforms for cultural expression, unity, and national pride. Over the past decade, Keretapi Sarong has grown into a distinctive Malaysian cultural movement, bringing people from diverse backgrounds together through a shared celebration of tradition, community, and the nation’s unique multicultural identity.

What began as a small-scale cultural flash mob in Kuala Lumpur has since evolved into one of Malaysia’s most anticipated Malaysia Day celebrations. For the first time in its decade-long history, Keretapi Sarong will be celebrated simultaneously across 10 cities nationwide, marking its most extensive national participation to date.

This historic expansion takes the Malaysia Day movement beyond the Klang Valley on an unprecedented scale, bringing the spirit of Keretapi Sarong to communities across the country and reinforcing its role as a nationwide platform for cultural celebration, unity, and national pride.

Klang Valley Celebrations: The Secret Destination Tradition

In the Klang Valley, participants will gather at 12 selected starting stations before travelling together to a secret destination, preserving the element of surprise that has become synonymous with Keretapi Sarong.

The 2026 celebration builds on the strong participation momentum recorded in recent years. Keretapi Sarong attracted approximately 12,000 participants in 2024, while more than 20,000 people took part in the 2025 edition across 11 starting stations in the Klang Valley.

First-Ever Official Song: "Joget Sarong"

KS26 will also mark another historic milestone with the launch and introduction of Keretapi Sarong’s first-ever official song, titled "Joget Sarong." Created as a musical expression of the spirit of togetherness at the heart of the movement, the song celebrates Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity and is envisioned as the musical identity of Keretapi Sarong—one that will continue to be sung, embraced, and passed down to generations to come.

A Message of Unity & Heritage

"This 10th anniversary belongs to every Malaysian who has boarded a train wearing a sarong and celebrated alongside people they may never have met before. What began as a simple idea has grown into a shared national tradition, reminding us that heritage continues to thrive when we carry it forward together." — Shamsul Bahrine Zainuzzaman, LOCCO Co-Founder

"At MAGGI, this spirit of togetherness is very close to our hearts. For generations, MAGGI has been a familiar presence in Malaysian kitchens and a part of the moments we share.
