Phase 1: My Road To Tokyo Marathon 2017

Road To Tokyo Marathon 2017

Hey here are some quick updates about my Road To Tokyo Marathon 2017 with ASICS. Finally we kicked start the preparations and training schedule for the marathon. This will be my 2nd Full Marathon, my first marathon was last year during Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2016. This round, I determine to do better but at the same I have butterflies in my stomach because Tokyo Marathon 2017 is on 26th Feb, 5 more weeks to go. Omg do I have enough time to train?

Phase 1: Road To Tokyo Marathon 2017 with ASICS

Well, last week we was my first meet up with Amirul Syafiq from ASICS, Coach Edan Syah and Jolene Hong from Smart Athletics Club at ASICS flagship store in 1 Utama. It’s time to gear up and get things started.

To determine the right type of running shoes that fit perfectly for me, I did my first foot analysis or so called ASICS Foot ID. The analysis was pretty intensive with machines and treadmills.

There are 6 steps to follow to complete the Foot ID. Registration, preparation for foot analysis, foot analysis, prepare for gait analysis, gait analysis and finally get the results. The whole process took me about 20 minutes.

After all the analysis, my dynamic analysis results is neutral pronation which is normal except for bunions, so I can easily fit into most shoes.

Smart Athletics Club (SAC) Training session by Coach Edan at MPSJ

Last Wednesday was my first training with the Smart Athletics Club (SAC) by Coach Edan at Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya in the evening. Every Wednesday I will go for my training and then during the weekend I will train on my own. 5 more weeks to go and time is running short.

I did learnt a lot from the training session, like breathing, pacing, build my endurance and also be consistence. I am looking forward for my next training session.

To be honest I am not a Pro-Runner, I am more like a so called “lifestyle runner”. So sometimes I can be bit blur. However, I enjoy running especially together with friends but full marathon is not a joke, it’s really a challenge for me.

The last round I completed my SCKLM 2016 full marathon was a bit of a struggle for me because I don’t have any training and just got back from my long trip in Indonesia before the race started. Because of my friends have signed up for it I don’t want to cancel last minute so I just go with that Semangat Mesti Boleh Punya! I am glad I did it. No regret! we had lots of bitter sweet memories.

If it is not because of determination and motivation I think I will not able to complete it in time, because at 36KM body and leg already KO but I keep going and going and going until I see the finishing line.

For this Tokyo Marathon 2017, I’m going there with some training and proper gear. So I am determined that I can complete with much ease. Like Coach Edan said complete the race with a smile not struggle.

  10. Good luck on Tokyo Marathon. You're really catching up fast on the run. I also have an Asics Nimbus and it's really soft on the feet with the gel soles.

  11. I don`t think I`ve heard of ASICS before. Thank you for sharing it. For simply getting the right shoes, they did a little bit more than what`s usual when it comes to getting shoes. I wonder what the price of the shoes you got though.
