Here is 1-day travel itinerary on heritage trail to Kuala Selangor and Klang Districts. Both Districts are homes to various historical remains that are crucial for learning. For Kuala Selangor District, after receiving the consent of DYMM Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Kuala Selangor District Council has now been officially declared as Kuala Selangor Municipal Council. So, together with Klang District, these are two of the most suitable destinations to visit to live up the spirit of patriotism in conjunction with Malaysia's National Day which falls on 31 August 2021.

1) Learn District’s History at Kuala Selangor District’s Historical Museum

This place is the most-suitable to learn on the history of Kuala Selangor District. In the year of 1960, this Museum located at Malawati Hill, Kuala Selangor was initially an official residence for Kuala Selangor’s District Officers.

Fast-forward, at current, this Museum provides information on the history of Kuala Selangor District through the chronology method which is exhibited in seven sections. Information is also conveyed through an interactive technique for the convenience of the history-loving visitors.

2) Witness Unique Historical Remains at Malawati Hill, Kuala Selangor

Malawati Hill is a popular destination among locals for its own appeal and uniqueness. It is also an iconic hill in Kuala Selangor District which places various historical remains and traces from the era of the Selangor Sultanate such as the Perigi Beracun (Poisonous Well) and Meriam Penggawa (Penggawa Cannon). The distinctiveness of Malawati Hill also includes Kuala Selangor Lighthouse -- habitat for various species of monkeys such as lotong. Apart from that, a tram service that takes you around Malawati Hill will be in operation on weekends and public holidays; a more-convenient option other than exploring by foot.

3) Lunch With Local Menu at Rabitah Catering

Rabitah Catering is the perfect place to fill your stomach with a variety of local and Javanese cuisines which are fish, beef, chicken-based, and vegetable sides such as the ulam-ulaman (traditional salad). You can also enjoy rice with unique side dish such as smoked beef and urat keting curry. This eatery starts operating as early as 6:30 am to 4:30 pm for customers to come by and enjoy the delicious meals.

4) Stop-by at a Historical Site, Kota Raja Mahadi

After exploring historical heritage in Kuala Selangor District, Klang District will be next in embarking on this heritage trail journey. Kota Raja Mahadi which is located at Kota Hill, Klang is a historical site that once witnessed the civil war between Raja Mahadi and Raja Abdullah, back in the 19th century. The war took place arising from a conflict in conquering the Selangor River and its surrounding areas which were strategic locations at the time.

5) Historical Tour at Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery

A heritage trail is not complete without a visit to any Museums or Galleries. Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery in Klang District is an ideal place which exhibits the history and heritage of the Royal Sultanate of Selangor. The building which was built in 1909 was formerly known as the Sultan Suleiman Building. It was also used as a British administration building during British colonization, while during World War II, it became the headquarters for the Japanese army. Later in 2007, the building was-officially introduced as Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery by decree of DYMM Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.

Alam Shah Palace

6) Visit the Royal Area of the Alam Shah Palace

Located in the historical District of Klang, this Palace is a royal building where DYMM Sultan of Selangor carries out his official duties and also is a place to hold any Selangor’s royal ceremonies. The Palace which was built in 1905 has witnessed the development of the Klang District and was the birthplace of the 7th Sultan of Selangor, the late DYMM Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj.

Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque, Klang

7) Witness Unique Architecture of Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque, Klang

Sultan Suleiman Royal Mosque, Klang is one of the mosques in Selangor with unique and fascinating architecture. The mosque was built in 1932 and officially inaugurated by the late DYMM Sultan Alaeddin Suleiman Shah in 1933. Apart from its unique architecture and concept, there is also a staircase known as the Royal Staircase that connects the Alam Shah Palace and Royal Tomb of Klang. This old mosque is still standing strong as a result of conservational efforts in maintaining its authentic western touches.
