Hey! we got some good news and updates to all the fans of performing arts. Get ready to savor live performances of interesting tales, legends and stories of Malay noblemen and heroes back in the palaces of the ancient days. In total there are 9 shows; 5 are from the Semarak Bangsawan 2017 performing arts stage show and 4 are from the Traditional Arts Showcase 2017.

In the nutshell, the Semarak Bangsawan Performing Arts and Traditional Art Showcase 2017 are organized by National Department For Culture And Arts or Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara (JKKN) which is one of the agencies under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia together with MaTiC.

Semarak Bangsawan 2017’ Performing Arts
1. Bangsawan Cincin Naga Api by the Persatuan Seni Ceritera Negeri Selangor, the adaption from the The Lord of the Rings movie and rewritten by Roydy Rokidy with Khusiary Mahyuddin.
Date: 12, 13 and 14 of May 2017
Artistes:  Dato’ Jalaluddin Hassan, Ain Sufia, Filzah Azmi from Awok, Azerai Azmi, Afi AF and more.

2. Bangsawan Satria Menara Putih by Perkumpulan Seni Singapura which is written by Samsudin Said and directed by Ihsan Ali. This is the first time Singapore’s performing arts team joining Semarak Bangsawan showcase.
Date: 21, 22 and 23 of July 2017

3. Bangsawan Dewa Kencana by Pertubuhan Teater Hidayah which is directed by Kamarul AR.
Date: 15, 16 and 17 September 2017
Artistes: Mubarak Majid, Zack Kool, Lan Zailan, Rosli Rahman Adam, Ruby Wahid, Marup Mustapa, Nazri Ahmad and more.

4. Bangsawan Zhao Si Anak Yatim by Opera Sri Bandaraya would also be interesting as it is also adapted from the Chinese drama The Orphan of Zhao and this is directed by Lenny Erwan.
Date: 13, 14 and 15 October 2017

5. Bangsawan Dendam Laksamana by the Persatuan Seni Silat Pusaka Sendeng Malaysia which is written by Siti Jasmina Ibrahim and directed by Pat Ibrahim
Date: 10, 11 and 12 November 2017
Artiste: Iqram Dinzly, Nadia Aqilah, Anuar Rusdini and Megat Shahrizal

Semarak Bangsawan 2017’ Performing Arts will be staged at the Kuala Lumpur City Council Auditorium at 8.30pm at a very affordable ticket price at just RM10, RM25 and RM50 for Premier seats.

Traditional Arts Showcase 2017
1. Chinese Opera in Cantonese by The Sound of Tai Hei, entitled Wedding Night the Gathering and Fairy Tales in Heaven and directed by Jeff Chua Chin.
Date: 28 and 29 July 2017

2. Indian Classical Dance Drama by Persatuan Seni Persembahan Malaysia or ASTANA depicting a dance drama with the title Devdas, directed by Ravi Shanker Rama Murthy.
Date: 25 and 26 August 2017

3. Traditional Theatre Jikey by Persatuan Penggerak Warisan Seni Budaya Negeri Kedah or AKRAB Kedah will present Naga Berapi under the direction of Saipol Bahari Mohd Iman.
Date: 27 and 28 October 2017

4. Collection of Regional Dances by Persatuan Penggiat Zapin Negeri Johor or PE-ZAPIN, Fakulti Tari, Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan or ASWARA and UPSI .
Date: 17 and 18 November 2017

The Traditional Arts Showcase 2017 will be staged at the Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman at MaTiC, Kuala Lumpur at 8.30pm. The ticket price is RM20 per seat and RM50 for Premier seat. There is a 50 percent discount off the price for student, elderly and OKU.
