I want Moo… Moolicious! I just drank a bottle of Moo Cow Blueberry yogurt drink… yummss satisfied and now I can continue to blog. Ok, a few weeks ago I was the chosen one and the lucky few to be on board with The Butterfly Project – Beauty Blogger on a trip to visit Moo Cow Factory in Segambut. During the visit we also learn about how to make yogurt and of course laa…. that day we have unlimited supply of yogurt and yogurt drinks, eat all we can yay...

We all gathered at Publika, Solaris Dutamas and changed into Moo Cow t-shirt. Each of us has different colurs and I got blue, like it. The first stop was at Moo Cow Publika Outlet at the Level UG-7 its just in front of Ben’s Independent Grocer. Yay! Kicked start my day with Moo Cow Strawberry Yogurt drink, we took some pictures at the outlet and then ready to depart to Moo Cow Factory in Segambut.

We were greeted by Mamalia (Moo Cow mascot) when we arrived at Moo Cow International (factory and headquarter). Happy photo time! After that the Moo Cow team members presented and shared with us about the history, nutritious information, the benefits of yogurt and last but not least we learn how to make yogurt in their manufacturing plant.

So do you like yogurt? If you don’t you better start liking it because yogurt is not only smacking delicious but also burst with goodness for our health. Our body needs to have a healthy amount of ''good'' bacteria in the digestive tract and many yogurts are made using active, good bacteria. One of the words you’ll be hearing more of in relation to yogurt is ''probiotics''. Probiotic, the beneficial bugs that live in our digestive tract and help crowd out harmful microorganisms that can cause intestinal infections. Probiotics is to help regulate our digestion and strengthen your immune system.

Yogurt is a Turkish word, it was said to be discovered by herdsman of Central Asia around 6000 BC. The herdsman preserved their milk through winter and long journey and the natural enzymes in the carrying containers (goat’s stomachs) curdled the milk, naturally making yogurt. In ancient Greek, yogurt is consider “the Elixir of Life”. For the Indians yogurt and honey is called “the Food of the Gods”.

Types of yogurt

There are many types of yogurt, such as plain yogurt (da-hi kefir); strained (Greek yogurt); flavoured yogurt (Swiss yogurt / yoplait); yogurt drink (lassi Ayran or dugh); frozen yogurt (froyo) and yogurt cake. So which one you love the most? Hmmm… I love them all especially the Greek Yogurt.

Step 1: Cleanliness
Cleanliness and hygiene is very important. We are required to wash and sanitize our hands plus put on a cap, mask and shoes cap before entering the manufacturing area. Inside all the equipment, pots and utensils are sanitized too to prevent contamination. Even if we make our own yogurt at home, cleanliness is also the key to ensure our yogurt turn out

Step 2: Pasteurization
Use fresh milk and warm it till 80C (degree Celcious)

Step 3: Folding
Remove the pot from the heater and wait till the temperature drop to 40C. Fold the milk while waiting for the milk to cool down. Please take note and this is very important - do not stir your milk just fold. If you stir it your yogurt will not turn out successfully. You can refer to my video how Clifford showed us the correct way to fold milk.

Step 4: Culture
Add the Culture / lactic bacteria starters (lactobacillus bulgaricus and streptococcus thermophiles). Mixed it well with folding techniques and avoid stirring.

Step 5: Incubation
Last step is to incubate the yogurt for minimum of 12 hours at incubated at about 40C to maximize the activity of the bacteria. The bacteria convert the lactose (milk sugar) to lactic acid, which thickens the milk and gives it the tangy taste characteristic of yogurt. Then store in chiller for another 24 hours.

Tadah! We have our fresh and plain yogurt. It looks like tao fu fah (bean curd). We get to try the yogurt on the stop. I think I ate quite a lot of yogurt that day. It is just too delicious that I can’t resist. I can feel the richness and taste the real yogurt.

Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt & Yogurt Cheese Cake Price

The plain and original yogurt taste different from the one that I usually buy from the supermarket. This one has the ompphh!!! The aroma of the fermented milk is stronger, the texture is dense and thicker and the taste is sourish and richer. I like the original taste. Then Clifford added blueberry flavour to the yogurt. Well it taste good also, but when we added the flavours the yogurt became bit diluted. I still prefer the original.

Actually, making yogurt is not a simple task as we think of. Sometime we try to make yogurt at home but it does not turn out successfully… huhuhu tak jadi. So how? Time for lunch and more Moo Cow… Wow!!! Look at the Moo Cow yogurt cheese cake… aww we tried the Peach, Strawberry, Blueberry and Oreo. Yummmms.. and creamy. I love the Oreo yogurt cheese cake, it has the more texture with the crunchy Oreo bits. Have you try yogurt cheese cake before? If no you must try, its softer and lighter than the normal cheese cake, you still get the creamy and cheesy satisfaction. Moo Cow yogurt cheese cake is RM13.50 per piece and available in 5 flavours- original, peach, strawberry, blueberry and Oreo.

We also tried Moo Cow Mooncakes, this item is on occasion / seasonal only. They have snow skin and baked skin. The snow skin is RM6.50 per piece and RM26 a box (4 pieces) available in 6 flavours Sweet Potato, Black Sesame, Red Bean, Pumpkin, Pandan and White Lotus.

As usual, I prefer the snow skin mooncake and my favourite Moo Cow Mooncake is the sweet potato; this is something different.

Overall, this was a Moo Moolicious and Mootricious experience for me. Going on a trip with the bunch of sporting and happy Butterfly Blogger are super fun and laugh until my stomach burst.
