Puma Motorsport Fashion Runway Unveils Malaysia’s Student Fashion Designers

The PUMA Motorsport Fashion Runway concluded with four students from Selvage of Raffles College of Higher Education Kuala Lumpur taking top honours in the finals held on a stylish catwalk set up at the PUMA Motorsports Red Cube at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.

Champion - Team Selvage

Selvage members Kathryn Lagrosa Rao, Onpimon Chavalitcheevin, Fong May Ee, and So Bu Yeow wowed the judges with their unique and innovative designs, and were the clear favourites to win out of the five teams that took part in the grand finals today, walking away with RM 3,000 worth of PUMA cash vouchers and a PUMA Timepiece for their efforts.

"The reason why the team name is Selvage is because Selvage is the strongest part of the fabric. And together, we were really strong and determined, that's why we adopted this name. The efforts were divided equally, and so will the prizes," Kathyrn Lagrosa Rao Leader of Team Selvage.

Second Place - Team Dulce

Students Sim Shin Yu, Neng Zhen Yang, Lum Sin Yi and Jasay Garces of Dulce, also from Raffles College of Higher Education Kuala Lumpur emerged close runners-up, taking home RM 2000 in PUMA cash vouchers and a PUMA Timepiece.

Third Place - Team Candy Fury

Wilson Lim Wei Seng, Christine Tey Ker Roll, Cai Yue Jia, and Peng Xiao Rong from Candy Fury of LimKokWing University of Creative Technology had to settle for third place and RM1000 in PUMA Cash Vouchers and a PUMA Timepiece.

Teams were judged on their creations by a panel made up of celebrity Julie Woon, fashion magazine editor Samuel Lee and PUMA Head of Marketing Gabriel Yap.

“A hearty congratulations from PUMA to the winners of the Fashion Runway competition – they truly deserved it. It is really great to see that Malaysia has so much talent in the fashion industry and PUMA Motorsports is happy to have given them this outlet to express their ideas and talent,” said Gabriel Yap, Head of Marketing for PUMA Malaysia.

The competition, which has been running since 25th February, invited design students from top Malaysian institutions of higher education to form teams of four and present their best fashion ideas using the latest PUMA Motorsport apparels and accessories.

The top five selected teams were then given a fixed amount of money each to purchase items from the PUMA Motorsport Red Cube and present one male and two female models decked in their most fun, sassy and creative outfits in line with the theme of ‘motorsports’.
