Michael Kors Opens First Store in Pavilion KL, Malaysia

It was an exhilarating experience to be able to meet Michael Kors in person during the Grand Opening of Michael Kors Boutique in Pavilion KL on 2^nd Nov. Well, 2011 also marks Michael Kors’ 30th year in the fashion industry. Created in 1981 in New York City. Michael Kors started young, he began his career in fashion at the age of 19 designing and merchandising a collection for the renowned boutique Lothar’s in New York City.

Michael Kors makes its debut in Malaysia through a licensing agreement between Kors and luxury goods retailer Valiram Group. The first Michael Kors boutique in Malaysia was in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

“I knew instantly that Pavilion Kuala Lumpur would be a perfect fit for the Michael Kors brand,” says Kors. “The vibrant energy of the Bukit Bintang district makes it such an exciting home for my first store in Malaysia.”

The 3,500-square-foot duplex with its white marble two-story façade will carry ready to wear and accessories including handbags, small leather goods, footwear, eyewear, watches, and fragrance from Michael Kors, KORS Michael Kors, and MICHAEL Michael Kors.

Its interior maintains the minimalist yet inviting mood of all Michael Kors stores, complete with modernist chandeliers, graphic black and white zebra skin rugs, polished steel finishes, Lucite fixtures and display pieces, and vintage furniture and photographs by pioneering paparazzo Ron Galella. A dedicated area designed specifically for watches and jewelry showcases the store’s extensive offerings in these product categories. Also available in the new location is a limited edition of the iconic Hamilton tote in orange or claret crocodile.

Celebrities who have worn Michael Kors’ collections include Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Kate Winslet, Madonna and more. In 2004, Michael Kors began his role as one of the judges on the critically acclaimed and five-time Emmy nominated reality show ‘Project Runway’.
