My City My Farm 2016

Hey look at this massive paddy field and vegetable farm in the shopping mall. We were at the My City My Farm 2016 at Tropicana City Mall few days ago. I just can’t believe it how they transformed the main atrium of the mall to a paddy field. I am glad to see many parents bring their children to learn and experience urban farming, especially during the weekend. Now we hope to convert awareness into actions over conserving the environment so that the future generation can enjoy a greener, more sustainable environment. Inspire the community to plant for a healthier living. Change start from us. If all of us can take some simple and small steps, together we can make a huge impact to the environment.

With the theme ‘Inspiring the Community to Plant for A Healthier Living’, “My City • My Farm 2016” encourages everyone to get down and dirty, and start planting as little initiatives that will bring a huge impact to the environment.

You can build your own edible garden at home

You can also build your own edible garden at home, its healthier and also fun. The children can help to plant, water the vegetable, see the vegetable grows and enjoy the fresh crips vegetables.

Children experiencing urban farming and they can do it at home also

This initiative aims to ensure the younger generation understands the impact of ignorance towards environmental conservation, as well as the crucial role they have in preserving Mother Earth for their future and upcoming generations – starting from the habit of planting.

The campaign also aims to bust the myth that planting and growing fresh produce is only possible if you have a large piece of land in the countryside.

You can purchase these items at baba's booth and start your own garden at home

With the right methods, facilities and knowledge, along with food grade natural fertilizer that is suitable for home farming, the small plot of land and balconies in city homes can be converted into a haven of fruitful produce.

  3. Healthy foods from farming gives positive results to people. This could be introduced by the government and other private firms for community development. Farming is fun and could give harmonious life on return.

  8. The concept of motivating youngsters to understand farming has picked up here in India too. We have some organizations that do weekend trips to nearby villages where we can experience hands on farming.

  12. I liked this idea when I saw your pictures. It is just so real nowadays that kids tend to go the mall more than out in the sun. Sad reality.
