Conquer My Fear! Ready To P1ay

Conquer My Fear, Ready To P1ay, P1

The journey to conquer my fear of public speaking wasn’t easy but I know I can do it. To be honest I have stage fright, every time when I am on stage I have butterflies in my stomach and sweat. I felt so nervous, my brain frozen and I will utter the wrong words. OMG… did you have the same fear as me? How to overcome stage fright and be a good public speaker?

I really admire those who can spontaneously grab a mic, take over the stage and engaged with the audience so effortlessly.  Sigh… I am a shy and introvert person since childhood but when I entered the competitive working environment it somehow changed me. I get to know more friends, colleagues and people from all walks of life. I remembered my first public speaking at my ex-company event wasn’t that good. It was my first time so I consoled myself I do better.

All I need is to Fight my Fear! This was my game-changer. I set my goal and push myself to be more outspoken, sporting and outgoing. The first person that inspired and encouraged me was my ex-boss, she a natural born public speaker. Every time she is on stage I would be like wow!!! But she told me it’s all about practice, preparation and confidence. True.

Since then I began to attend series of team building, motivation and public speaking trainings. From there I gained more skill and self-confidence. Last year I was one of the speakers at Japan Beauty Week. It was a great experience to share my beauty tips, thoughts and the trend of cosmetics industry in Malaysia in public at the concourse Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. We also conducted beauty workshops and sharing sessions with my readers and fans. There were many passerby, shoppers and tourists as well.

It was never easy to conquer my fear of stage fright, every initiative and step helps to build my self-confidence. Keep practicing and improving by non-stop self-learning. Now I am learning the tips and tricks of public speaking through internet. There are so many information and videos to guide us online. I love to watch the inspiring and motivational talks on YouTube.

  2. I was a shy girl once in my life, too. I don't know how I've come to love public speaking. I tell those who have stage fright that they always have something interesting to share. And wouldn't you love to jump into a conversation when you have so many ideas you want to impart? It's good that you watch Youtube videos that can help you become a motivational speaker. Good thing there's free internet service that you can rely on.

  6. I am also not a very good spontaneous public speaker. If I need to lecture, everything should be written down on paper and the script is laid in front of me. I really think extemporaneous speaking is really an inborn talent not everyone has.

  9. I guess everyone has the fear to do public speaking. But, when we overcome it, we can take control of it. I can do good in Chinese public speaking, but in English I still need to put on more effort.

  11. I have stage fright when I am in grades school. But I surpassed it all, because our school develop us to be more active and more progressive in stage acting. And as years go by, I am used to going up to the stage and have an impromptu speech.
